This is working well because the cutting and printing characteristics of linoleum are natural and familiar for me as a printmaker. The Bowdons carve the image into the block; then I proof it by adding additional cuts, corrections and adjustments with hand tools. This process between artisans has resulted in what we call “hand-drawn, laser-cut, relief prints.”
Since I intend to print images larger than what my Vandercook press currently accommodates, I’m in the process of modifying my Sturges etching press.
